COURSE OVERVIEW

The Pension Reform Act 2014 is government’s scheme to ease the challenges of life after employment. It is an intervention that has given the retiree much faster access to his retirement funds and has eliminated some of the major challenges in the old pension scheme. The retiree must play some role to derive more benefits from the new pension scheme. They should plan and prepare early for retirement to scale the hurdles that retirement throws up.

Employers of labour, public and private organizations, also must play a complementary role. Leaving pre-retirement training off to the last few months of employment does not give good result in planning for retirement.

This workshop is designed to equip participants with the relevant knowledge, skills and competencies in personal financial planning and entrepreneurship as well as provide information on pension issues as they prepare for retirement.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

At the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

• discuss the objectives of the current pension scheme;
• identify post-retirement options and opportunities;
• develop personal financial plans; and
• prepare better for life after retirement.
